How to change the length of posts?

Hi there, many thanks for this great guestbook! It is up and running on my site but posts do not appear with its full length on my site. Can I change the max number of characters and/or lines for a post?

Do you mind if I make a test post to see where it truncates the message? That will give us the exact character limit.

I am actually not able to post any messages at all. What customizations have you done to the guestbook and what settings have you changed in the config.php file?
